Cumberland Island Wilderness Expedition
Oak Group: Saturday April 26 - Tuesday April 29
Join us for a women’s wilderness expedition to Cumberland Island National Seashore to experience sandy white beaches, unique jungle-like fauna, historic ruins and southern charm. Cumberland Island National Seashore is one of our favorite hidden gems; it is an island off the coast of Georgia, only accessible via ferry (our favorite), and it is full of wild horses, armadillos, turtles, and dolphins. Our expedition will include camping, hiking, biking, beach combing, and stargazing.
*This expedition will require you to be able to easily bike 14 miles along a sandy dirt path in humid conditions. Please prepare yourself so you can fully enjoy this experience.
Price
$1449.00 (plus tax)
*price will be broken up into 4 monthly installments of $362.25 (plus tax). Your first installment will be charged at the time of booking. The second installment will be automatically charged to your card one month after the first installment. Each installment will follow this monthly pattern until all four are paid.
This price includes all permits, accommodations, food, gear, bike rental, camping site though-out the duration of the retreat. You are responsible for transportation to and from the event
Itinerary
Day 1: Arrive in St. Mary’s, Georgia at 4 PM. Check into the hotel, explore the darling southern town, gear check and packing. Group dinner at a local restaurant.
Day 2: Take the 9 am ferry to the island. Hike in, set up camp. Explore the island and beach day! Sunset at the beach and stargazing.
Day 3: Bike to Plum Orchard (7 miles one way). Lunch and tour Plum Orchard, the old Carnegie mansions that are still standing. Return via bikes (7 miles).
Day 4: Hike to Dungeness ruins and explore ruins of the old Carnegie mansion. Beach games and lunch before taking the ferry back to St. Mary’s at 4:45 pm.
**Participants are responsible for their own transportation to and from St. Mary’s Georgia. Nearest airports include Jacksonville Florida (45 min) or Orlando Florida (1 hr 15 min). Participants will be included in a GroupMe with other women on the trip to coordinate shared rides or rental cars, etc. For this trip, participants need to be in St. Mary’s Georgia by 4 PM on April 26 and will be done with the expedition by approximately 6:30 PM on April 29.
